Farewell Pastor DJ

"To everything there is a season, and a time for every matter or purpose under heaven..." Ecclesiastes 3:1 Amplified Bible (AMP)
HIM Staff

The bible teaches us that every aspect of our lives goes through different seasons just as we experience seasons in the natural. With every season we experience blessings and encounter a few obstacles which are there to help us get stronger in our faith.

Pastor DJ and Heewon Kim

At HIM we were blessed to have Pastor Dukjin Kim (DJ) lead us for a season.  He is an exceptional man of God who is humble and dedicated to things of Christ.  Unfortunately, our season together had to end as Pastor DJ and his wife, Heewon, have decided to move back to the United States to be closer to their family.  It has been an emotional few weeks leading up to his last Sunday with us; however, we can be sure that our relationship with Pastor Kim and his lovely wife will continue.
Pastor Roy Palash

With the end of every season comes the start of a new one.  We are honored to welcome Pastor Roy Palash from Bangladesh into our family.  Pastor Roy has been appointed as the new leader of HIM in light of Pastor DukJin's departure.

Happy New Year

Greetings in the precious name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.  We pray that the new year will bring an abundance of blessing to you and your family.

We started the new year off with a time of prayer and fellowship as we gathered together at our place of worship.  Pastor Kim facilitated the time of prayer by sharing specific areas that required prayer for the coming year.  Before the clock struck 12 to ring in the new year, we all wrote down our prayer requests and shared them with our friends sitting next to us who then joined us in praying for those requests.

It was a great way to kick off of the new year as it set a wonderful tone for each our lives.  We look forward to all that our wonderful Father as in store for us in the months to come.
We pray that you would continue to stand strong on the things of Christ and look to Him for direction in every area of your life.

Much Love
H.I.M

Change in Leadership

Hosanna International Ministries (H.I.M) is affiliated with Hosanna (Presbyterian) Church in Myeongji.  Although we operate as an autonomous church, the senior leadership (Pastor and Deacons) of HIM submit to Hosanna Church. The church calender starts in December and ends in November the following year. At the end of each year, pastors and deacons are asked to overseer new ministries.  At HIM, we have the honour of welcoming new deacons to our church at the start of each year while having a hard time saying farewell to the current deacon.
Pastor Dahm Son

This year we experienced an even greater loss to our ministry as our senior Pastor (Pastor Dahm Son), was asked to step down from his role as pastor at HIM and focus on another ministry at Hosanna Church.  The change came as a shock to our church as Pastor Dahm was more than just our pastor, he was part of our family and saying good-bye to him was very difficult.  We have grown to love Pastor Dahm and his leadership and have been blessed through his ministry at HIM. Our family at HIM truly appreciates all Pastor Dahm's time and dedication to our church and we will continue to pray for him and his ministry.

Deacon Jung

We also had to say a sad good-bye to Deacon Jung, who served HIM for the past year despite the language barrier.  His love and dedication to God and our church was truly remarkable.

Deacon Choi
Change is always difficult, but, with God all things are made perfect.  He often brings people into our lives for a season and allows for His love to shine through them.  At the start of this month we warmly welcomed our new senior pastor (Pastor D.J. Kim) and senior deacon (Deacon Choi) into our HIM family.

Pastor D. J. Kim
Pastor D.J is of Korean descent but grew up in the United States of America.
Apart from serving as senior pastor of HIM, he is also involved in the English Sunday School ministry (ESS).  We are glad to have him join our little family and look forward to serving our King together.

As we move into the new year we ask that you join us in praying for our church and the body of Christ as a whole.  We know that God has great things in store for each of us in this new season.

Giving back to God

Thanksgiving Feast
Yesterday (18/11/2012), we came together in once voice to give thanks to our Heavenly Father for all that He has done in our lives over the past year.  We shared a meal together and listened to wonderful testimonies from our brothers and sisters.

Sometimes, words are not enough to explain the awesomeness of our God.  His love far exceeds our human understanding.  With all the love and mercy he has shown us, it is only fitting that we give back to Him to show our gratitude.  We give back to God in our tithes and offering as well as our good works.  The members of our family here at HIM have huge hearts and are ever willing to help those less fortunate than ourselves.

Every Saturday, a few members of our church serve at a homeless shelter at Busanjin.  They allow the light of Jesus to shine through them as they minister into the lives of these precious people.  The program is a joint effort by a few churches in Busan and we are glad to play a part in it.

Below is a video of the wonderful work that is been done by these amazing men and women.  We encourage you to get involved if you are free and would like to spread the love of Christ to the less fortunate.

Grateful Hearts

"Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever." ~ Psalm 107:1 (NIV)

Each morning when we get up is a perfect reason to give thanks to our Maker.  Without his Grace and Favour we will not have the strength to face another day,  The bible reminds to us to always thank God who leads us in triumph (2 Corinthians 2:14).

Looking back on this year we have a lot to be grateful for.  We need to constantly remind ourselves of the all the little blessings we have received throughout this year and years before. Yes, we may have experienced a few disappointments along the way; but, we should not allow them to steal our joy instead we should thank God for those setbacks and remain focused on Him and increase in our faith.  The Bible reminds us to give thanks to God in good times and bad (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

We are taught that every good and perfect gift comes from God (James 1:17).  Hold on to that promise daily with a grateful heart and watch God do extraordinary things in your life.

Join us as we give thanks to our Heavenly at our special Thanksgiving Worship Service on November, 18th, 2012.  Visit our Facebook page for more details.

Fall Festivities

The leaves have started to change colour and it's becoming colder by the day.  Fall is a great time to watch our Creator at work and to celebrate His wonders.

Over the past few weeks we have enjoyed the new season with a few events at our church.
At the start of October we got together to celebrate the Korean Harvest Festival - Chuseok.  Dominic and Yongson hosted us at their home for a potluck dinner.  A feast fit for a king was prepared by everyone who attended.  It was a great time to fellowship with our brothers and sisters and enjoy a meal together.

The celebration continued the following Sunday when we enjoyed a picnic together at the Myeongji Park.  We gathered at the park after our regular worship service where we played a few games but the highlight was the cricket match.  Dominic explained the rules of the game to everyone as it is not widely popular in most Asian countries. It was quite entertaining to watch. We worked up an appetite with all the running around which was a good thing because we were treated to a huge barbecue  party by a couple from Hosanna Church.  There was an endless supply of meat so we ate to our hearts content.

On the last Sunday of October we competed against the other International Ministries from Hosanna church at the annual Sports Day.  Team H.I.M was full of energy, enthusiasm and determination as we prepared to bring down the mighty Russians in a game of tug-of-war.  We are happy to report that we conquered our giants and beat them THREE times!  Unfortunately, we were not successful in our soccer and kick-ball games but despite the odds we managed to win second place at this year's event.

We are looking forward to the new month with new blessing from our Heavenly Father.

August Rush

The month of August was a blessed time for all of us at HIM.  We took our annul Summer retreat during the first weekend of August to the beautiful Geoje Island.  Like all families we all got up at the crack of dawn and hopped on the bus with much excitement.

Our first stop at Geoje was at the Windy Hill, funny enough, it was very windy there.  The sun scorched down on us but that did not stop anyone from having a good time.

After baking in the sun we made our way down to the Black Pebble beach and had the privilege of having it all to ourselves.  Unfortunately, none of us could go in for a swim as all our bags were on the bus which just dropped us off and went away.  We dipped our toes in the ice water and cooled off our sun burns before making our way to our host church where we enjoyed a delicious lunch.

Exhausted from the sun and good food many of us decided to take a nap before heading out to Oedo Island.  A ferry transported us to and from the island which is home to a stunning botanic garden.

In the evening we gathered for a time of worship and Pastor Dahm shared his vision for HIM with us.

The night ended with a fun yet challenging quiz prepared by Danny and a late night snack of Ramen noodles. We got up early on Sunday morning for breakfast before heading back to Busan for our Sunday worship service.

Our tears of joy from the retreat soon turned into sad tears when we had to say good-bye to Elijah who is moving back to America.

Later on in the month we also said good-bye to both Ian and Mary who are moving to Seoul.

During August, Dominic, together with Excel and Ji-soon went on a mission trip to India.  They had a blessed time of ministry together for two weeks before Ji-soon and Excel retuned to Korea.  Dominic will be in India till the second week of September.

We look forward to new blessings during September and pray that you have a blessed month.
